Open Positions

Laboratory Manager, Full Time

Location: San Diego, CA

Position Summary: Manage laboratory facility for cellular and molecular biology operations. This involves establish laboratory techniques and perform complex laboratory procedures to contribute to the timely completion of microfluidics processes. The position requires organization and scheduling of weekly maintenance for proper laboratory organization and cleanliness.

Responsibilities Include: Manage laboratory equipment and supply purchasing. Oversee safety standards for laboratory staff. Create laboratory standard operating procedures and train staff. The successful candidate will be expected to exhibit individual initiative, work independently, be technically proficient and accurate. Effectively communicate in both written reports and presentations to initiate and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. General laboratory management
    1. Maintain and ensure compliance with safety procedures and waste disposal.
      1. Weekly equipment cleaning schedules
      2. Weekly waste disposal schedule for hazardous materials and trash
    2. Manage purchasing and invoice preparation
    3. Manage instrument and compound inventory
    4. Ability to follow protocols and prepare reagents
  2. Tissue culture laboratory including but not limited to:
    1. Weekly cleaning schedule and procedures
    2. Weekly routine growth and storage of cell lines
    3. Maintain cell inventories
    4. Maintain reagents and supplies for tissue culture on a weekly basis
  3. Support commercial development and sample screening teams
    1. Insure supply
    2. Insure reagent supply
    3. Assist Scientists in research to meet quarterly goals
    4. Assist Scientist in writing SOPs

Required Qualifications:

  • Scientific background in tumor biology, hematology or immuno-oncology
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence microscopy
  • Analyze images using fluorescence microscopy software
  • Assist senior scientists with assay tech transfer
  • Organize, compile results and assist senior scientists with data analysis and reporting
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of histology and enthusiasm performing this work
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Prior industry experience in histology and assay development is a strong plus o
    • BS or MS in Biological or Bioengineering sciences
    • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Previous experience with human blood or CTC isolation is a plus
  • Must display strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to details
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills required. The candidate is required to keep detailed records of experiments and prepare presentations on a regular basis.

Position Title: Manufacturing Assistant, Full-time

Location: San Diego, CA

Position Summary: Responsible for the manufacture of microfluidic chips for use in blood diagnostics and continuous improvement of existing processes.

Responsibilities Include: Microfluidic chip cleaning and thermal bonding, application of surface molecules to microfluidic chips, quality control testing, optimization of assay performance, report writing, preparation of SOPs.

Required Qualifications: B.S. in chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology with relevant laboratory experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to follow the detailed procedures in existing protocols are essential. GMP experience and knowledge of ISO is a plus.

Position Title: Senior Research Associate, Full Time

Location: San Diego, CA

Position Summary: We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated candidate with strong work ethics for the position of senior research associate to assist in development and validation of microfluidic chips and processes for analysis of circulating tumor cells, CTC, in test and clinical samples. Specific histology experience desired.

Job Description: The SRA will be responsible for working with various cell lines to identify, capture, stain and characterize for use on slide and microfluidic chips. The SRA will work with researchers on a dynamic basis with an ability to work independently. This person will also participate in execution and optimization of current protocols for cell staining. The SRA will aid the other company functions including microfluidic chip testing and experimental analysis. The successful candidate must be willing to take on new job related responsibilities and vary work schedule to accommodate company needs and may require occasional long work days.

Required Qualifications:

  • Scientific background in tumor biology, hematology or immuno-oncology

Position Summary: Assist in development and validation of microfluidic chips and instrumentation for analysis of circulating tumor cells, CTC, in test and clinical samples.

Responsibilities Include: Execution of existing benchtop and on-chip cellular and molecular assay protocols, quality control testing, optimization of assay performance, report writing, preparation of SOPs.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology with relevant laboratory experience. Post-doctoral or industry experience related to surface modification for attachment of various biological molecules or DNA linkers. Hands on experience in bench top assays for molecular and cellular analysis, cell culture maintenance and expansion, extraction and purification of circulating markers, such as nucleic acids, proteins, and exosomes, from biological samples, bioassay development and troubleshooting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to follow the detailed procedures in existing protocols are essential. Experience in fluorescence microscopy is a plus.

Required Technical Expertise:

  • Thorough knowledge of surface chemistry for attachment of various biological molecules as well as oligonucleotides
  • Knowledge of polymer surface chemistry
  • Hands on experience with development of diagnostic assays for blood samples
  • Competent in writing up protocols and committed to detailed note-taking
  • Experience with microfluidics and automation a plus
