Open Positions

Position Title: Microfluidic Chip Assembler/Manufacturing Associate, Full Time

Location: Lawrence, KS

Application Deadline: February 28, 2019 or until position filled

Position Summary: Work involves preparation and assembly of microfluidic consumables using established SOPs. This is an entry level position with no prior experience required. On the job training will be provided and the device assembly is conducted under close guidance of facility manager. The assembled consumables are used by other branches of the company for clinical testing and product development. Prior experience working in similar position or as a laboratory technician is a plus.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Fast paced repetitive cutting and cleaning of plastic components.
  • Fast paced assembly using heated press.
  • Quality inspection and testing of subcomponents and assembled devices using microscopy.
  • Recording inspection test results, yield information, and other data as required.
  • Packaging of the consumables and preparation for shipment.
  • Managing inventory of subcomponents and assembled consumables.
  • Assembly tasks require careful handling to prevent damage and contamination of the consumables.
  • Some of the tasks may require working in the controlled environment room and in protective clothing.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of workstations.
  • Conforming to all safe work practices, quality standards, and GMP regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Effective manual dexterity and eye hand coordination.
  • Ability to perform highly repetitive manual operations with constant attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn operation of manufacturing and assembly equipment.
  • Ability to follow highly specific assembly instructions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective organization skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Compensation: $12-15/hour with health benefits package.

Position Title: Computer Science Intern

Location: San Diego, CA

Position Summary: Development of an automated method to capture and document microscope images and data.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Working with a microscope expert to develop a flowchart of image processing and implement software based automation into the workflow.
  • Automate microscope imaging and processing using Auto Hotkey or Elephant Automation program www.elephantautomation.com

Required Qualifications:

  • Motivated Student
  • Interest in programming
  • Experience using a microscope
  • Programing experience is a plus

Position Title: Intern

Location: San Diego, California

Position Summary: Assist in manufacturing and processing of microfluidic chips for use in blood diagnostics and continuous improvement of existing processes.

Responsibilities Include: General organization and application of surface molecules to microfluidic chips, quality control testing, optimization of assay performance, documentation.

Required Qualifications: We are looking for a student working on a B.S. in chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology with relevant laboratory experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to follow the detailed procedures in existing protocols are essential.
